Carbohydrates
There are three types of foods: fats, proteins and carbohydrates.
Of the three categories, carbohydrates turn into sugar that travel to our blood.
The goal is feed our body enough carbohydrates to stay fueled and not overwhelm our body at one time with too many carbohydrates.
Practicing portions of carbohydrates in each meal is a great strategy to promote healthy blood sugars.
1/4 of a plate of carbohydrates (starchy vegetables and grains) is a way to start being mindful.
Examples of foods that have carbohydrates are: fruits, starchy vegetables including beans, peas, corn, potatoes; milk and yogurt, rice, noodles.
