Is Fruit Bad?
No, fruit is not bad! All fruits are carbohydrates. What that means is, when fruit is broken down and digested, the building blocks of fruit are sugar, and that sugar travels into the bloodstream.
Fruit has a natural sugar called fructose in it. But in addition to fructose, fruit also includes water, fiber, vitamins, and minerals. Many different fruits also provide antioxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits.
With that in mind, fruit is encouraged to be part of your diet. However eating a mindful portion of fruit is the best practice for healthy blood sugars.
Tip: try pairing a fruit with nuts or cheese to lessen a sugar spike.
